This Tunisian athlete was born on February 16, 1984. He majored in Computer Engineering and Computer Science – University of Southern California, Los Angeles (United States of America). Mollouli is known for its impressive height (6’3 “), that perfectly matches his body structure.
His physical qualities may be somewhat striking, inside and outside the pool, but despite his appearance he is quite gentle; just one warm smile is what it takes for him to conquer the audience.
The charm behind Oussama’s physique goes beyond his muscles. His smile, eyes and lips are quite expressive, emitting warmth and a friendly character that he usually hides during a competition. Perhaps it has something to do with his Tunisian education, or just the fact that he grew up with a loving family, being away from them is most important sacrifice Oussama had to make when he decided to go to live and train in California.
Mellouli left his native Tunisia at the age of 15 years old; he left to study in France. That was of course before moving to the University of Southern California, he did so in order to pursue his studies and his swimming career with Coach Dave Salo and the USC Trojans, with whom he god significant success.
He is freestyle swimmer (both individually and combined modality) of Tunisia and is among the best athletes in the world at distances of 200 m to 1500 m. Through his career he has gotten a lot of acknowledgment and medals such as: 3 at the Olympic games and 23 at Worldwide Championships.
It was Oussama’s mother the first one who encouraged him to swim, for fun at first as long as he was having a good time with his siblings and his mother could work in a modest pool in the town of Al Marsa just north of Tunisia. Little she know that her suggestion will change her son’s life forever.
