Raised in Oklahoma amongst five siblings by sincerely religious parents who take the Bible very seriously, Andrews was a firm believer for over 30 years; he even worked as a Christian radio broadcaster due to his production talents.
As in now he still lives in Oklahoma (Tulsa), Andrews continues to share his experiences through his website “The Thinking Atheist”. The inspiration for creating this site came from his over three decades of Christian indoctrination, along with all of the excessive religious propaganda in our society making threats about skeptical thinkers burning for all eternity.
In his first book, a biography, Seth Andrews describes the beginning of his doubts and questions about everything he believed to be true during most of his adulthood. Eventually he came escaped his Christian chains and embraced the justifications science provides regarding the universe. In 2015 he published a second book called Sacred Cows: a Lighthearted Look at Belief and Tradition around the World.
Seth is an active member of the atheist community. Not only he makes contributions through his website and books he also gives lectures and produces videos as a complementary element to his podcasts; bringing a relaxed tone and polished format to the discussion of the topics that defined his youth. Some of the podcasts consist in interviews and others are moving pictures and speeches disproving religion or encouraging science and reasonable thinking.
The Thinking Atheist is currently one of the most popular shows with over a million downloads each month. Andrews has interviewed atheist legends such as Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss and even the President of American Atheists: David Silverman. The show contains a final section where people call to discuss the pressing matter that was just discussed or just to give an opinion. Atheists are the usual callers.
