With just twenty-three years old, Zuckerberg became the youngest billionaire to ever appeared in the annually list published by Forbes magazine. Mark was just a Harvard student when he came up with the idea that we now know as Facebook.
Zuckerberg was born into a Jewish family and his passion for computer science was pretty obvious during his early years. By the time he was twelve years old he started programming. In 2002 entered the Harvard University (Massachusetts). Around February, 2004 Mark and his college roommates launched a website. The Facebook social network; Mark was 19 years old.
Originally called Thefacebook, the main intention at that time was to create a network between students of Harvard University. The name of site was referring to the bulletin that many universities give their new students to help them get to know each other as soon as they arrive at the premises.
The project was rapidly spreading to other educational institutions and companies. One day due to the site’s success it opened its services to the general public. In 2006, Facebook had become a global phenomenon, with over 64 million users from English speaking countries (USA, UK and Canada). Two years later several versions of the platform were launched in various languages including Spanish, German and French.
In December 2007, Forbes magazine published the ranking of the 25 most influential Internet people and Zuckerberg made it to the list after selling 1.6% of the portal for 256 million euros, to Microsoft. Three months later Mark became the youngest man to enter the world’s richest magazine list.
Despite all of his fortune, it is said that Mark considers himself to be a very humble person who loves to do things and spend time with his wife and their daughter. He has done quite substantial donations to social causes related to education, the promotion of Internet worldwide and even donated 25 million dollars to fight Ebola. Fun fact Mark Zuckerberg is also a vegetarian.
