Behind her blue eyes and blond hair, Rossini is one of the greatest defenders of freedom of expression and free access to knowledge in Brazil. She got her degree ten years ago; Carolina Rossini has always worked with questions concerning the exchange of information and free culture. Mainly because the explosion of the internet phenomenon that changed the way society has to create and share content.
Carolina is also a master with distinction in Intellectual Property; Master in International Negotiations; specialist Industrial Property; and MBA in e-Business. Definitely not the kind of woman who simply accept things as they are.
In high school, Carolina did not settle to a school with the tradition of the Bandeirantes College in Sao Paulo, she created a student council with her friends. Today, she does not settle to the restrictions that most people face to have access to information, especially when this knowledge can benefit the education at any level. Being the founder and organizer of the REA-Br Project (Open Educational Resources) was a start.
Educational resources that should be available to everyone are not only books and articles, but also software and search tools, organization and development of information, online learning communities, intellectual property licenses that facilitate the open publication of texts and images, and content taught in courses. In other words, knowledge in general.
Carolina currently lives in the United States, but keeps her thoughts in Brazil, especially in the debate on intellectual property rights. She has been involved in various liberal movements. For Rossini, the knowledge of the world should be free, in favor of humanity. All those who need information should have access to it. She is not satisfied to see that sometimes only money can open the door to knowledge. And she will not rest until she can change the world for the better.
