Tatiana Gabrielle Maslany was born in 1985 in Canada. She does not come from a family related to showbiz. His mother is a translator while his father is a cabinetmaker and carpenter. Tatiana is the eldest of three brothers. His younger brothers are called Daniel and Michael. She and her brothers have always been very creative. She has said that when they were little, they made films and comedies in the back garden with a video camera. They were always creating something.
Maslany began as a dancer; when she was 9 he started doing Community Theater, one thing led to another and 3 years later she debuted in a Canadian TV series called Incredible Story Studio. Tatiana moved to Toronto when she was 20 years old. She was given an opportunity to work in L.A. but did not want to move there.
However, Tatiana has been working in major projects since 1997: some of them were The Vow and Ginger Snaps 2. It was not until 2010 due to his role as Ruby in Grown Up that she began getting a lot of attention, she got a special jury prize at Sundance that year. But the roles (yes, roles) that are giving her even more attention are the ones she plays in Orphan Black.
Tatiana recalls the casting process as the funnier and scarier one she ever did. For the casting process she had to play five different characters different costumes. And she got it, she has –amazingly- played over 10 different characters or clones in the show. Besides English, Tatiana also speaks French, German, and some Spanish. She said that she learned in high school, and it has been very useful playing the Orphan Black Characters
Speaking of Orphan Black, to prepare to play so many different characters, Tatiana did a lot of work; she got a playlist of her different characters and explored in space how that specific character moved to that music to get a better understanding of the character’s rhythm, emotion or aggression.
